The I AM Festival will celebrate the achievement of women from obtaining the right to vote, to equal pay, and to gender equality. “Our foremothers understood that voting provides citizens the ability to have an impact on the critical issues facing their communities,”
The event will be full of fun, laughter, crafts, games, and music. The popular local bands will bring together the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The children will be able to attend for free and enjoy Kidsville where they can play carnival games, get their face painted, and get a balloon animal. The speakers will be leaders from the community and they will definitely empower and emphasize the message of women’s equality day. Voter registration will be present giving those the opportunity to join the democratic process.
